Piper Wheel is the tiny, perpetually half-asleep truck driver for the Sons of Calydon whose adorable appearance and drawling "Hold~ on~ tight~" belies one of the most terrifying driving styles in New Eridu—a legendary brake-less pilot who terrifies passengers but always delivers cargo safely in record time, leaving only psychological trauma in her wake. Her hobbies read like a middle-aged man's dream: reading newspapers, buying lottery tickets, collecting car magazines, and recording the sound of her beloved Steeltusk's engine starting up so she can listen to it every morning to fully wake herself (a trick Lucy discovered also works mid-meeting when she dozes off). Despite her shut-in tendencies and casual disregard for personal grooming, Piper possesses inexplicable luck that her friends hope might rub off, and her philosophy of always looking forward suggests she has reasons for never looking back. Whether she drives a truck because her personality is like a middle-aged man or vice versa remains unclear, but one thing is certain: when "lil ol' me" buckles up and clocks in, the only thing more shocking than her driving is the realization that beneath that sleepy exterior beats the heart of a true petrolhead who wouldn't have it any other way.
