Character Description

Tsukishiro Yanagi is the Deputy Chief and intelligence officer of Hollow Special Operations Section 6—the sole "normal" member of a team comprising an eccentric Void Hunter chief, an overly relaxed slacker, and an innocent childlike Oni, leaving her responsible for personnel management, mission feedback, on-site support, and literally all the actual work while still finding time to crack jokes that no one laughs at. A former Defense Force soldier infused with Oni blood after honorably killing the rebel leader during the Oni rebellion (a mission that began when she saved a young Soukaku from a missile and ended with her becoming the girl's legal guardian), she now carries the burden of protecting the Oni people while raising Soukaku in New Eridu, handling her ward's homeschooling and taking responsibility for all her work behaviors. Despite her serious, diligent, and meticulous exterior—complete with a retractable naginata called Uro Tsuki and an encyclopedic knowledge of enemy weaknesses—she has a surprisingly clumsy side in daily affairs, obsesses over red bean buns to the point of cutthroat competition with Trigger, and once nearly passed out from overtime hunger until Harumasa tossed her a "lifeline" donut. Whether she's explaining her terrible jokes, receiving Mother's Day flowers from confused new employees, or holding Section 6 together through sheer force of competence, Yanagi remains the indispensable pillar without whom the whole operation would crumble—proving that the truly exceptional aren't those who seek spotlight, but those who make sure the lights stay on.
