Ukinami Yuzuha, known as "Yuzupepper" on the Spook Shack forum, is the adopted daughter of Failume Heights antique dealer Li Baorong—a cheerful and eloquent girl whose mischievous pranks (like swapping Manato's cola with veggie juice) and playful scams (selling fake "Sacrifice Repellent" amulets with her tanuki companion Kamanosuke) mask a harrowing past as ES-07, the sole survivor of Porcelumex's inhuman "Project New Leaf" child experimentation program. Originally a nameless orphan called "Little Candle" due to malnutrition-induced night blindness, she was given the name Yuzuha by a sympathetic researcher and escaped the Lemnian Hollow facility when Alice's father Lionel Thymefield discovered the experiments, rescuing her via underground river at the cost of his own life—a truth she carried silently for years until fate reunited her with Alice, now her best friend. Living in a cramped apartment above Mystic Wares with four siblings, attending a low-tuition company school alongside Manato, and commanding a tanuki she saved from drowning who now helps her navigate Hollows, Yuzuha finally confronted her past with the help of new friends, promising to live on together—a master of mischief whose pranks aren't for fun but survival, a dependable companion whose distance finally closed, proving that even those who've been "cursed" by fate can find light when they stop running alone.
